Where NIL Money Comes From
- Name the main kinds of NIL income and how each one pays.
- Explain why income from more than one kind is steadier.
NIL income is not one thing. It is several kinds of work, and each one pays in its own way: when, how, and for what.
| Kind | What you do | How it pays |
|---|---|---|
| Sponsored post | Make and share content for a brand | Per post, after it goes live |
| Appearance | Show up at an event or a store | Per event, often after it |
| Autographs and merch | Sign items, or let a product use your name | Per item, or a share of each sale |
| Camps and lessons | Teach your sport | Per camper or per hour |
| Your own content | Videos or posts that earn from views | Monthly, and it can swing a lot |
More than one kind of income makes a year steadier. If one deal ends, the others keep paying.
This year you expect Ⓛ4,000.00 from posts, Ⓛ2,500.00 from appearances, and Ⓛ1,500.00 from a summer camp. The post deal ends early and pays nothing. How much income is left?
Work it out, then check
Ⓛ2,500.00 plus Ⓛ1,500.00 is Ⓛ4,000.00. Half the year is still there, because the money came from more than one place.
Which kind of income is hardest to plan a month around?
Pick your answer first, then open it.
Your own content, because views change from month to month.
✓ Right. Plan with the amount you can count on, and treat a strong month as a bonus that goes to the reserve first.
A signed appearance with a date and a fee.
That one has a date and an amount in writing. It is the easiest of the five to plan.
A camp with a set number of campers.
A set number of campers at a set price gives you a number to plan with.
This week
List every NIL income you have now, by kind. If one kind is more than half of the total, write down one other kind you could add this year.
